The Past Few Months

I haven't blogged the past few months what has been going on and happening. You all know that Scott and I still work together for a while now, but even though we have both been at UPS for a few years now, its still sometimes difficult to get vacation time together during the times we would like. We initially planned to take a week of vacation for our anniversary in July. But since we weren't able to get it for that week we had decided to plan it for just a random week in September. Its already been 2 years.... can you believe it? Oh how time flies!
We decided to go fishing and to make it a trip to the cabin in Middle Canyon and to stay a night or 2. We just wanted to relax, enjoy the quiet and get out of the city. So we packed up the kids (Manny and Presley) and left early in the morning and drove up to Settlement Reservoir to go fishing. We only had 1 problem though. We forgot how much Manny loves the water and just cant resist to stay out of it. Needless to say, we couldn't get him to stay out of the water and they both loved the mud, we weren't catching anything so we decided to cut the fishing part short. You can see how muddy there paws are in the picture above. So we drove to the cabin from there and just hung out and played with the dogs. We built a fire and ate hot dogs and enjoyed relaxing.
Since we now have the youngest baby Presley, we decided that for this winter they would need something enclosed and big to keep them warm and out of the snow when they are out in the kennel. Se we decided the easiest and cheapest way would be just to build a dog house that would fit both of them if they were both in it at the same time. So we got some extra wood from my mom and got the rest from Lowes. So my manley husband got to work and within a day and half we had a dog house. It took Presley some time to get used to it, but after a few days she became comfortable with it enough to go in and out and to play hide and seek with Manny.

This week was Thanksgiving. We were able to spend dinner with the McCleery Family and desert with the Okelberry side along with some of Rusty's family also. (My sisters in-laws) not many pictures of my family unfortunately, but just a few of the McCleery Family.

Sister in-law Kellie and her Boyfriend Josh

Scott's Aunt Susie and Uncle John

This has been a great week spending it with Family and relaxing at home. Today we were able to take the dogs to there favorite park to get some extra exercise. We just though we would share with everyone one of Manny's great talents and hobbies..... Going down the slide. Happy late Thanksgiving to all.

Idaho Friends

Earlier this week we had visitors from Idaho. Our good friends the Hills who are apart of the Mackenzie family were able to spend most of the week in Salt Lake and Wednesday we were all able to go to the Beez Baseball game. The weather was iffy throughout the day later turned to be just fine and cool enough to enjoy the game.

Camping trip to the cabin and vistors from South Carolina

This week were able to make a trip to the cabin, which is just on the other side of Butterfield Canyon, also known as Middle Canyon. Originally the group that had planned to go was myself and Scott, as well as his parents Dave and Wendy and Scott's sister Kellie and her boyfriend Josh. Due to a unfortunate injury, Dave and Wendy were not able to go for the whole weekend, but were able to join just for dinner. Kellie, Josh, Scott and I were still able to keep our plans and stay a few nights. Josh and Kellie went up Friday night, and we later joined them Saturday morning. We didn't do much but hang out around the fire and play with the dogs, but sometimes is just so nice to get out of the city with no service on the cell phones and just do nothing but relax. Manny and Presley had a blast! Josh was able to take Diesel his Husky puppy as well, and they all played together all day long. We could barely get Manny to stop playing fetch. He kept going and going and just wouldn't let up. They were even able to take a small hike up to the old little mine, just a little ways up the mountain behind the cabin. This morning we returned home rested and a little pooped but it was a very nice trip. Manny and Presley both played so much they can barely stay awake, they have both been sleeping since we got back home.
My Aunt Lori and Uncle Jeff and their many kids were able to make it to Salt Lake from South Carolina this weekend. They arrive earlier this week and will be returning Thursday. They were able to see the Pioneer Parade for the 24th and hang out with the family, then today we were all able to make it to Temple Square to take a stroll and see a list of all the different historical buildings and sites. We were able to see the statue of Christ and go through small self guided tour they have there, then we walked through the square and all through the fountains and the Reflection pool. We then walked over to Church history museum just West of the Temple grounds. We went through that building as well, then to the Children's exhibit. They dressed up and played games and even learned a little about the olden days and church history. All in all it was a good weekend and good to see relatives we don't get to see often. Pics of the Lori and Jeff to the right, it's not the best pic.

Hike to Dog Lake

Today we were able to take trip up Mill Creek canyon to take Manny to Dog Lake. He definitely loves the water and totally is a water dog. Above, is a video we took of him playing fetch with Scott and jumping into the lake.

The hike was about 5 miles round trip, but Manny was a trooper carrying his little back pack as well. It was a littler harder than i thought it was going to be but definitely a good workout. My father in-law Dave, Scott and his good friend Bradon, and also Josh, who is Scott's sisters boyfriend all went. There were not very many dogs there when we first got to the lake, but by the time we left there were about 20-25 dogs there.

Unfortunately Presley wasn't able to go yet, she is still a little small, but hopefully in a month or so, we can make another trip and take her with us. she is definitely growing fast so she should be able to make it next time.

Trips to Vegas

This past month Scott and I were both able to take trips to Las Vegas. He and the guys in his family wanted to go see the UFC fights. Luckily we were able to get them all VIP tickets, thanks to the help of his cousin John and His best friend. They were able to get 10th row and VIP treatment, and Scott was even able to meet and take a picture with one of his favorite fighters John Fitch. We knew how much the fun the guys would have on there trip, and my mother in law Wendy and Scott's grandmother Beverly, decided that the girls should have a weekend to spend in Vegas as well. Because Beverly really wanted to see Bette Midler, they decided that would be the best show to see. We weren't able to meet Bette Midler, but we had a blast at the show and a relaxing day at the pool. We worked on our tan, won some and lost some, but all together was a fantastic trip!

About Us

After all the nagging from the 2 sisters, I was finally able to get a blog together. Scott and I have been married for almost 2 years as of July 21st. Oh how time flies! Who ever said the first year of marriage is the hardest was wrong. So far it has been a breeze, and we have both been loving it the whole way. No children as of yet, but we do have 2 dogs which we basically consider our children. The oldest is our Golden Retriever "Manny", who will be 1 one June 23rd. He is a slim 78 lbs and still growing. Our second is a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog "Presley" who is, as of yesterday 5 months, and right now at 47 lbs. she is still very fluffy but quickly loosing all of her puppy fur and growing fast.
When we were first married we were able to buy a condo in Taylorsville. We lived there for about a year, then decided we wanted something bigger. We quickly put it up for sale and about 3 weeks later, it was sold. We luckily were able to move into the in-laws for about 3-4 months until we were able to find a house, then in August of 08, we moved into the house we are in now. We came to find out about 1 week after we had moved out of our condo, it had burned down! Someone must have been praying for us.
We are now just working on our house and enjoying being home owners, with 2 little ones with 4 legs running around. we also keep very busy during the summer with lots of girls fastpitch for me, and co-ed slowpitch softball for both of us. We love to camp, hang with the friends and watch some UFC fights, and Scott's new thing is Float tubing with his buddies.
